As a technology apprentice, you will be part of the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Software Development launched this year, which enables you to work towards receiving a foundation degree. As the entry point for your career in technology at the FT, the Higher Level Apprenticeship in Software Developer Program provides the skills you will need to become a proficient software engineer.
You will join a team of engineers and will be assigned to a host for the duration of your 2-year apprenticeship at the FT (6 months per host team). You will start on 2nd October with our academic partner Ada, the National College of Digital Skills, for 8 weeks of training. After completing your initial training, you will rotate between being onsite at the FT for 6-8 weeks and training at Ada for 1 week for the remainder of your 2-year apprenticeship.
While onsite, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a team of engineers to solve real life problems. You will gain exposure within a range of different disciplines across the company including programming, infrastructure and operations. Additionally, you will learn how to apply problem solving skills to real world situations, pick up new technical skills such as programming in multiple languages and other industry practices and see how software is designed and developed at the FT.
