Why did you join the FT?
I took a small career break in 2016 after having worked on a replatforming project at Tesco for four years. It was an intense role and I just wanted a short break to be a ‘proper mum’ for a while. Anyone who knows me knows that I cannot sit still for long, so I put some feelers out there and an interesting opportunity came up at the FT. I had never thought of coming into this industry before as my background was primarily retail, but I believe skills can always be transferred.
What has been your biggest accomplishment so far?
My first challenge was to bring more awareness to the B2B (business to business) arm of the FT and create a product development team for this area of the business.
What excites you most about your job in the FT’s product team?
The company really takes care of its employees and their wellbeing. That always comes first. You get so much recognition here and management (as well as those around) treat you with the utmost respect. It is buzzy, fun, challenging and rewarding!
What has been your favourite event at the FT?
My favourite event was Acceleration month, where teams had to pitch their big ideas to a panel. My team was chosen, and we had a month to help the FT become more digitally accessible. This was a huge challenge. Not only did we work towards accessibility, but we also got a huge amount of coverage across the entire business. It was a really fun month.
