Purpose of the appeal

The FT Seasonal Appeal highlights the work of one charity and asks FT readers for donations to support its activities. The appeal aims to raise awareness of the work of the charity and promote its cause to a global readership.

Applications for the 2019/20 Seasonal Appeal are now closed.

How we choose charities for an appeal

The FT Seasonal Appeal Committee includes senior editorial and legal team members who  review, assess and discuss every application.

The Committee ensures that a variety of different charities are considered. All charities must have a global remit and should be registered with charitable status in the UK and US.

We will perform due diligence checks on all shortlisted charities. Please let us know if you are aware of any information that may affect your application at a later stage.

We will not accept applications longer than five pages and suggest two to three pages as the ideal length. Email your completed application to

How the application process works

The Seasonal Appeal Committee meets in April to review, discuss and shortlist applicants. If successful, charities will be invited to our London HQ for an interview in May. The final decision on who becomes the FT’s Seasonal Appeal partner is put to a staff vote. The charity partner is announced at the end of June.
